I have this great new diet to share with you. It’s called the flu! Just kidding.
I was sick for a solid day and half this week. In a way being sick is a great reset for your body.
After being sick, your body is almost at a “clean slate.” It has reset itself to where it wants to be.
So you have options. You could continue on the path that may have gotten you sick, or you could use this as a time to accelerate a new nutrition routine.
Did we just relate being sick to fitness? Yes we did. It is all about personal accountability after all.
This is also a time to be hyper aware of how food feels in your body.
Maybe dairy or frozen protein shakes (ice cream) upset your newly “reset back to normal” stomach. Maybe consider changing for a few weeks.
Starting a clean or cleaner diet after being sick is very similar to a raw vegetable cleanse that is recommended prior to making a big diet change.
But this is all in the same realm of what I call “what is your other option?”
If someone has a previous injury (and putting aside that we know about 90 percent previous injuries are movement pattern problems that we fix) and are torn on whether they should begin a fitness routine or not, or stick with one…
What’s your other option!
Or maybe like me with 3 herniated discs from my early 20’s.
What is my other option!
It doesn’t really matter what is going on. There is nothing that anyone can ever tell us that we won’t say to them… health and fitness is the best cure for it!
And what is your other option!? It’s a rhetorical question, there isn’t another option. You have to be personally accountable and fix it.
Are you going to just quit health?
You could go back to the couch and get more sick and unhealthy. You could continue on a poor nutrition plan. The place you are guaranteed to get sick & injured is on that couch.
See you in class.
All the best.
